Live

Here are some live projects I've been involved in, mostly playing live electronics, except in the first video where I composed the music, directed the musicians live, and I also was manipulating some sounds and effects live during the performance.

Some of my best live performance inspirations are Frank Zappa, Mr. Bungle, Mike Patton, Tim Exile & Fred Lebrasseur.

Show with the project Excentré

One of my favourite projects, where I composed the music and directed the musicians live and I also was manipulating some sounds and effect live during the performance. (credits to come)

Phosphènes Live – Saint Éon

Show for the launch of an exhibition and my album Phosphènes, where I was playing with the extraordinaire duo Ranch-O-Banjo (Fred Lebrasseur + Martien Bélanger) (video recorded by Marco Dubé)

Phosphènes Live – Éleusis

Here, while the incredible and amazing duo Ranch-O-Banjo are improvising over some of my tracks, I’m adding some effects on some tracks and mixing everything live for the 3 floors of the gallery we were in:  sound ambiances were in the old historic vault downstairs, at the mid level were the drums and some guitar, and the percs and other sounds were heard on the main floor where we were playing. Very fun project!

Map Sonor live at the Mois Multi – Chapelle

This is from a show at one of my favourite festivals in Québec City, the Mois Multi, where I performed live electronics alongside very talented musicians accompanied by very cool video projections by Marco Dubé.

Map Sonor live at the Mois Multi – Russian Cowboy

Another piece played at the Mois Multi in 2015 for the project Map Sonor live, where I performed live electronics alongside very talented musicians accompanied by very cool video projections by Marco Dubé.

Webern Infidèle
live at the Musée National des Beaux-Arts du Québec

My composition Webern Infidèle from my album Influences performed live at the MNBAQ in relation with the exhibition Les Matins Infidèles.

Toussie, la musique du protocole
live at the Musée National des Beaux-Arts du Québec

This is from a show performed at the Québec National Museum with the Toussie Ensemble, formed by all Iranian instrumentalists (except me), directed by Fred Lebrasseur, and in which I was doing live electronics and modifying live all the instruments of the players on stage. In this section of the concert, I was modifying the Nay instrument, which is a traditional Iranian flute.

L'ensemble Inachevé de Fred Lebrasseur – at the Mois Multi

Another great show directed by Fred Lebasseur with an ensemble that he put together specially for this show where there was 5 electronic performers in the band that were modifying the sound of all the other instruments in various setups that the sound technician re-patched before each musical piece. I think he had the most complicated job in that show!

Musicians: Karèya, Martien Bélanger, Andrée Bilodeau, Pierre Bouchard, Devil Dandy, Francis Desharnais, Simon Doyon, Isabelle Fortier, Georges Azzaria, Lyne Goulet, Raphael Guay, Pierre Langevin, André Larue and Raphael Simard. Sound technician René Talbot.

Inachevé rehearsal

A practice I recorded to get more familiar with these little robots that I played live in the concert that you can see in the previous video.

Inachevé sample pack improvisation

An improvisation I made with sounds sampled from the band L’Ensemble Inachevé and with which I built an elaborate Ableton Live setup that was created for improvisations like this.

My humble home studio

A setup I created for fun with a couple of piezo microphones and a dense session in Ableton Live.

Fun Drums – Devil Dandy

Just playing around and having fun with random percs and sounds.
